“On behalf of Naad Pargaas, it is my distinct pleasure to welcome each one of you to the eighth edition of our online Makrand reading event. What we have assembled today is more than a literary exercise — it is a moment of collective attention, a pause in the rush of our daily rhythms where we come together not merely to read, but to encounter meaning, to inhabit language, and to reflect on what it means to read, to listen and to respond. In times when our screens are often sites of distraction, today we reclaim the screen as a site of resonance. The presence of students, teachers and scholars from universities across India and abroad — across time zones and disciplines — reaffirms our belief that reading is not an isolated act; it is a deeply relational gesture.”
